Newton is a suburban city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts and approximately 7 miles west of downtown Boston.   The population of Newton is around 86,000, making it one of the largest cities in the state.

Rather than having a single city center, Newton is a patchwork of thirteen villages - with small downtown areas of their own. The 13 villages are: Auburndale, Chestnut Hill, Newton Centre, Newton Corner, Newton Highlands, Newton Lower Falls, Newton Upper Falls, Newtonville, Nonantum (called "The Lake"), Oak Hill, Thompsonville, Waban and West Newton.

Newton's proximity to Boston, along with its good public schools and safe and quiet neighborhoods, makes it a desirable community for those who commute to Boston or work in Newton's businesses and industries.

Lexington is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts with a population of around 32,000.

Lexington borders the towns of Burlington, Woburn, Winchester, Arlington, Belmont, Waltham, Lincoln, and Bedford.   It has more area than all the municipalities that it borders.

Lexington was the location of the first battle of the American Revolutionary War in 1775.  Every year, the town observes Patriots' Day - with a special reenactment of the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

Throughout the rest of the year, many tourists enjoy tours of the town's many landmarks: historical buildings, parks, and monuments - most dating from Colonial and Revolutionary times.

A prominent historical landmark located in Lexington Centre is the Battle Green, where the Minuteman Statue is located. The Revolutionary Monument, the nation's oldest standing war memorial is a famous landmark.  It is the gravesite of those colonists slain in the Battle of Lexington.  Notable residents of Lexington include: Douglas Melton, pioneer of stem cell research;  Gerald S. Lesser (1926–2010), psychologist who played a major role in developing the educational programming included in Sesame Street;  and, Tim Berners-Lee, computer scientist and creator of the World Wide Web.

Medford is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, five miles northwest of downtown Boston.  The town has a population of around 57,000 and it is the home of Tufts University.

Irish-Americans are a strong presence in the city.  West Medford, the most affluent of Medford's many neighborhoods, was once the bastion of some of Boston's elite families.

In the late 19th century, local resident James Pierpont wrote "Jingle Bells" after watching a sleigh race from Medford to Malden.   Another local resident, Lydia Maria Child (1802–1880), made a poem out of the trip across town, now the classic song "Over the River and Through the Woods".

Medford is also home to some famous crimes.   A few crooked officers of the police force pulled off one of the biggest bank robberies and jewel heists in world history.   In 1980, they robbed the Depositors Trust Bank over the Memorial Day weekend. An admitted mob execution by the Irish Winter Hill Gang also took place at a cafe in Medford Square, now called the Lighthouse Cafe.
