All About Engine Oil  -

Oil lubricates the moving parts of a car's engine.   It keeps the parts cool by lowering friction and carrying heat away.   It also keeps any grit or tiny particles from scratching tightly-fitted parts.

 

However, heat breaks down the oil.   It makes the oil gummy or  watery so that it doesn't lubricate the  engine properly.   The longer the oil is in the engine, the dirtier it gets.   Replacing old oil with new fixes all these problems.   Fresh oil lubricates and cools better.   When the old oil is flushed out, it flushes away the grit or dirt in it.

 

Old-school or conventional motor oil is made from crude oil.  This kind of oil has been used for more than 100 years to lubricate engines.   It does the job well.  It breaks down over time, but not too quickly.

 

Synthetic oil started out as an old-school oil.   Then it was modified.  It lubricates even better and stands up to high heat better without turning into gel or getting watery.   Some blends of synthetic oil are designed to keep high-mileage vehicles rolling longer.   Others are meant for high-performance engines.   Still others can help to improve your car's fuel mileage. 

 

Changing the oil regularly is  vital to the  long-term life of the vehicle’s engine.    To reduce repairs and i mprove performance, check the owner's manual for the suggested service interval.
