We often get the question - "What exactly do you do for a used car inspection?"

 

The short answer is a bumper to bumper Sherlock Holmes investigation.

 

The long answer is that we go through the car carefully looking for signs of necessary repairs or previously done work. We look at the engine bay to see if there are any leaks or other signs that work is necessary. A good mechanic can tell a lot from a visual inspection.

 

Engines that are not running well or pipes and hoses and gaskets which need replacing are things we pick up on quickly.

 

Suspension or steering we can test by putting pressure on the tires and seeing whether or not there is movement. Using a jack we can also look at control arms, suspension bushings and more.

 

Brakes are something we specialize in. We can tell how much life is left on the pads and rotors and how long it will be before you will have to get the brakes done.

 

We check the tires for tread wear and can tell how many miles you will be able to get before you have to have your tires replaced.

 

Major body work - we can look at the frame and the paint and tell whether the car has ever had major body shop work done to it. Depending on circumstances, this is sometimes not reported to the national registry CarFax and others pull from.
